THE ETHOS

AHLEM’s concern for sustainability is more than a platitude—it’s fundamental to our identity and values as an independent business.

As we evolve, what remains consistent is our commitment to making heirloom-quality products while establishing new standards for environmental responsibility.

SAVOIR-FAIRE

We partner only with master artisans — including Meilleurs Ouvriers de France — who share our dedication to environmentally sensitive practices. Whenever possible, antiquated equipment is replaced with new technology that has a lighter footprint. Neither metals nor acetates are discarded; instead, they are recycled into new objects for resale.

HANDCRAFTED IN FRANCE

Our eyewear is handcrafted in France, a country leading the way in environmental ethics. The DRIRE — a decentralized service of the French Ministry of Ecology — monitors artisan workshops, the equipment they use, and the waste they discharge. It also limits the quantity of production per year to minimize the impact of industrial processes.

ACTIONS SPEAK

AHLEM has implemented its own direct actions toward sustainability, reducing single-use plastics across the entire line, adopting compostable packaging.

(RE)AHLEM

Our commitment to longevity extends beyond creation to renewal. The (RE)AHLEM program invites clients to return their worn frames, which are then restored, reimagined, or transformed into new objects of purpose. Every piece receives the same care as when it was first made — polished by hand, adjusted with precision, and given a second life. In this way, beauty is not consumed; it continues.
